challenge

This project involved welding 96 - 2 ¾” OD 2.25% Cr Superheater tube pups during a scheduled maintenance shutdown window.

With less than 3 inches of clearance between the tubes, access was extremely limited, making the welding process particularly challenging.

results

The original scope called for welding only 48 joints. When the scope doubled towards the end of the Shutdown window, our team adapted seamlessly by procuring additional equipment and remaining on-site to complete all 96 joints without delaying the client’s startup schedule. Leveraging the ultra-low clearance capabilities of the Liburdi Dimetrics J Head, every superheater tube was welded successfully and passed Radiographic testing.
